Shoot 2 - Straight Images
The shoot below is my second shoot in my Final Examination. I have decided to call this shoot 'A typical Girl', this links to my first shoot showing 'A typical Boy' as it shows the stereotyped daily activities of both genders. I think this shoot went well well and to achieve the pictures I used my sister, Rebecca, and took photos of 'girly' things that she does like makeup, face masks and doing her hair.
This first image shows my little sister putting mascara on looking directly into the lens. The reason I took the image with her straight on and staring into the camera was so that the photograph was from the perspective of her looking into a mirror. I think this is very effective because it is very natural and her facial expression shows concentration, the way she would be naturally when putting on makeup.
This second image was taken from behind Rebecca as she is doing her makeup in the mirror. I wanted to take this image because it shows the area, tools and makeup she uses on a daily basis. This is her normal set-up therefore is part of her everyday life and is an important part to show in the process of her getting ready. I like how in the mirror you can see just a small part of Rebecca's reflection, I think this adds depth to the image.
This photograph is of the actual makeup that is used in the process of getting ready. I decided to take this image so that the shoot had a 'break' in the middle as it doesn't all show action. I think these very focused, detailed and close-up images are important in the style of my shoots as they feature in all of them.
This is one of my favourite images from the shoot because I really like the close-up feel of it. Again the perspective it is taken from gives the the viewer the feeling that she is looking into the mirror therefore the facial expression she has shows the true way she acts. This is one of my best images because I think the different textures in it, the colour and nature light makes it very interesting and pleasing on the eye.
This last image shows my sister the a side angle sorting out her hair tools on her bed, although you cannot see that in the image. I think the photograph is very relaxed and shows the calming nature of pampering yourself. The image is very feminine and soft because of the soft lighting and mated colours giving a kind of angelic look.
